Helping Berkshire Carousel
The Art Learning and Devlopment foundation has been working to create a work space for Carousel Volunteers. They have begun carving 38 horses. This is an exciting project! It is the intent of Berkshire Carousel Inc. to have volunteers and local artists work side by side with carousel professionals in the carving and painting of the figures and artwork on our Berkshire County ride.
The Carousel is to be finished in 2011 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the incorporation of the city of Pittsfield and will be located in the downtown.
Special Visitor
We are fortunate to have Walt Ruess, artist extraordinaire, teaching volunteers the wood carving techniques. He will be guiding those working on the Carousel. We are excited to have such an honored guest!
Thanks to, WOOD HAWK CREATIONS. Art inspired by the beauty and spirit of wood.
Ongoing Workshops
In this wood carving class, students will have the opportunity to learn about the styles and techniques used in traditional carousel horses.
Experienced carvers will share their secrets and offer new approaches the fascinating world of carving.
